Honduras authorities apprehended five Syrian nationals in their attempt to enter the US with stolen Greek passports.
According to a local police representative, no evidence indicates that the five Syrians detained have any connection with the terrorist attacks in Paris.
The men were apprehended in the capital city, Tegucigalpa, and their aim was to enter the US through Guatemala. According to the official communiqué of the police in Honduras, the pictures of true passport holders were replaced by those of Syrians.
"We received information from police services of other countries that the five departed from Greece and passed through Turkey, Brazil, Argentina and San Jose in Costa Rica before arriving in Tegucigalpa. All five are Syrians," said Honduras police spokesman Anibal Baca.
