The villain in the two recent films about special agent James Bond has appeared in Athens. 36-year-old Simon Kassianides took part in the 33rd Classic Marathon, not missing the opportunity to have fun.
The actor is of Greek origin and he was even born in Athens. He participated in the marathon as a goodwill ambassador of MDA Hellas and the organization "Friends of Children".
After the exhaustive running on Sunday, the lens caught him last night in a popular restaurant in the luxury neighbourhood of Kolonaki. After meeting friends and colleagues on Wednesday Kassianides will leave for New York.
Simon who graduated in economics was selected for the role of Yusef Kabira in the 22nd film just four years after he started his career in cinema. "I went to the casting and shortly afterwards they told me that I was selected for the role. I found myself on a magic stage where you look and you cannot believe, telling yourself, "Oh dear, this is James Bond!" he says in an interview after the filming of "Quantum of Solace".
According to Simon, the filming lasted for 11 hours a day. "I will never forget the filming. We were in London and in Moscow. The sets were a true copy of a Moscow suburb."
Kassianides defines Daniel Craig as "a very warm and friendly person." "He is very nice and has Bond’s phlegmatic sense of humour."
