Two years after the assassination of the Greek actor Nikos Sergianopoulos the 31-year-old killer David Murdzikneli is alone in prison, and his family - his wife and his child are in Georgia. “They came to see me a few days ago. I don’t see them often. I have no phone card to call them, I have no money, so my dad and my brother help me,” he says excitedly.

His lawyer says that Murdzikneli has repented for what he has done, but still the 31-year-old man has to stay in prison for many years. His sentence is 20 years and 10 months, but he is threatened with life imprisonment as the prosecutor sought to reject the mitigating circumstances which have led to this judicial decision. Murtineli works in prison and rarely talks to his relatives.

The murder of the Greek actor Nikos Sergianopoulos shook all of Greece and shocked the artistic circles two years ago. “I do not want to remember what happened. I will have to stay many years in prison. I have nothing to change from my confession before the court, but I  want the television and the newspapers to leave me alone finally,” says the Georgian David Murdzikneli for the Espresso newspaper from prison. Let us recall that Nikos Seryanopoulos was found dead at his home and thrusted with a knife 21 times all over the body.

The voice Murdzikneli changes when he talks about his family. He says he wishes he has never been back to Greece. His wife and children are waiting for him in Georgia and sometimes come to prison to see him. The people he speaks with most often, except his family, are his lawyers.
