Nikolaos, the second son of Greece’s former King Constantine, and his wife Tatiana have decided to leave behind New York and London and to permanently settle in Athens. According to sources, the two arrived in Greece in the early summer and had gradually decided to move to its capital.
According to the Greek media, for years, Nikolaos wanted to move to the country where his family had ruled until 1974 but his professional duties did not allow him to do so. After the couple’s wedding, on the island of Spetses in 2010, his wife Tatiana also expressed her desire to live in Greece. Nikolaos’ parents, Constantine and Anne - Marie, who have also moved from London to Porto Heli, are very happy with the young couple’s choice.
However, what has roused the curiosity of the majority of the Greek media is where the young couple has settled. The luxury flat rented by Nikolaos and Tatiana has been built on the plot of the old villa "Galini" (tranquillity – author’s note) owned by George Papandreou, three times Greece's Prime Minister in the periods 1944-1945, 1963 and 1964-1965. The couple has rented the flat from the former Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou’s sister, Sofia.

Commentators define the case as a historical irony since the descendants of two families, sworn enemies, will be living side by side.
Sources claim that Nikolaos had been informed from the beginning about who his neighbour would be, but he showed no resentment of this fact. The same is true for former Prime Minister George Papandreou. Eyewitnesses say that every time the two men meet they greet each other.
