The explosives were deactivated by fire workers of the Greek Police. The remains were transferred to the crime lab to be examined. Investigation of the case is being carried out by the Office for Combating Terrorism.

According to initial reports, the explosived consisted of a battery, a clip, a small bulb and a small amount of gunpowder. The mechanism did not have a detonator and it is not yet clear whether it was likely to explode.
