Due to the change in the political situation in Greece, we asked you in our latest poll, "Do you think that the new Greek government will decide the dispute about the name of Macedonia?"
Almost half of the Bulgarian readers believe that the main reason for the inability to find a solution lies in the Macedonian government. 43% of readers are of the opinion that with its aggressive nationalism Macedonia sets against itself not only the Greeks, but also the rest of its neighbours. The other answer that has obtained a significant readership vote supports the view that Greece will not abandon its position on a name with a geographical definition and it is the preference of 34% of readers. 17% support the view that the claims on Skopje are too many - the Bulgarians do not recognise its language, the Serbs its church and the Greeks its name. The last possible answer according to which Alexis Tsipras as Prime Minister will recognise the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia has obtained 6% of the vote.
Readers of the English version of GRReporter see the situation from a different perspective. 34% of voters believe that Alexis Tsipras will recognise the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia. At the same time, 30% of readers believe that Greece will be consistent in its policy and will not agree on a name with a geographical definition. 25% of the vote is for the many claims on Skopje on the part of neighbouring countries. Only 12% of respondents in the English version believe that the policy of Macedonia is too aggressive and nationalistic, and repels all its neighbours.
The opinion of the readers of our Greek version is close to that of the Bulgarian version. 50% of respondents believe that the aggressive and nationalistic policy of the Macedonian government repels not only Greece but also its other neighbours. 29% support the view that Greece will not change its mind regarding the name with a geographical definition. Unlike Bulgarian readers, 14% of Greek readers believe that the new Prime Minister of Greece will recognise Macedonia's constitutional name. 7% are of the opinion that the claims on Macedonia on the part of its neighbouring countries are too many.
It seems that the problem with the name of the Republic of Macedonia will not find its final solution any time soon. The reasons are historical and political and the issue involves the interests of all neighbouring countries of Macedonia.
