The majority of Greeks still define as positive the government's strategy in the negotiations with the lenders. Over time, however, this support has gradually declined, as shown by a poll conducted by the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki for SKAI TV.

In particular, the percentage of Greeks who identify as correct the position of the cabinet during the negotiations is 56.5% whereas in early February it was 72%.

60% of respondents consider the 4-month extension of the rescue programme as a success of the cabinet and 19.5% as a failure.

According to 56.5% of Greeks, the government of SYRIZA and Independent Greeks is determined to keep all its election promises. 72.5% of them even agree with the statement of Minister of Finance Yanis Varoufakis that the government may delay the implementation of some of them in order to create an atmosphere of trust with the lenders.

In relation to concerns that the government actions may lead to Greece’s exit from the euro zone, 43.5% of respondents indicate that this option causes fear in them and only 14.5% think it is hopeful. If we add to them the percentage of those Greeks for whom it is all the same whether Greece will remain in the common European currency or not, namely 26%, the percentages for and against the euro become almost equal.

82% of Greeks assess as positive the government's initiative to form a commission to deal with the German war reparations. At the same time, 63% of respondents do not approve the decision to release illegal immigrants from the detention centre in Amigdaleza.

According to a another poll, conducted by the agency Interview for Thessaloniki Vergina TV, one in two Greeks does not approve the negotiating tactics of the government, while the majority of respondents are of the opinion that the Troika has not been abolished, contrary to the statements of the government.

In particular, 50.5% of respondents indicate that they are not satisfied with the current course of negotiations with the lenders and 58% believe the government is not keeping its election promises.

73% are convinced that the government of Alexis Tsipras has not abolished the supervisory Troika, but has only changed its name.

Against this background, SYRIZA continues to lead in the ranking of the Greek parties and with a big difference at that. According to the same poll, the party is supported by 39.8% of respondents, while New Democracy by 17%. Golden Dawn ranks third with 5.7%, followed by the Communist Party of Greece with 5.1%, Independent Greeks 4.8%, Potami 4.2% and PASOK with 3.2%.

A poll conducted by Marc for Alpha TV reports an almost 20% difference for New Democracy.

To the question: "Which party would you vote for if elections were held today?" 40.2% of Greeks reply they would support SYRIZA and 21% New Democracy.

Next in the ranking are the Communist Party of Greece with 4.9%, Golden Dawn 4.8%, Independent Greeks 4.5%, Potami 4.3% and PASOK with 2.5%.

94.2% of respondents state they are against early elections and only 4.8% declare themselves in favour of such a scenario.
