Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy will visit Athens on Wednesday. At 10:00 am, he will meet with his Greek counterpart Antonis Samaras in the government residence Maximou.

The news of the visit has been disseminated by the Spanish newspaper El Pais. According to the newspaper, although the visit will officially take place within the context of the bilateral relations between Greece and Spain, the aim of the Spanish Prime Minister will be to support Antonis Samaras before the early parliamentary elections on 25 January.

The publication in El Pais reports that the two officials had agreed on the visit last Sunday, during the unity march against terrorism in Paris.
