Some of the included measures in the plan are: personal computers for students, paying off compensations for all wildfire victims in Attica, taking measures against flooding and erosion, and restoring the forest.
After a meeting between the minister of education Aris Spiriotopoulos and the PM, it became clear that 126 thousand first grade students will receive free computers. Also, they will receive €400 coupons, with which they will be able to take the computers from the stores. This governmental program reached a cost of €68 million and part of it is paid off by a Development Program of the EU.
Also the Ministry of Economy will deliver over 5 thousand electronic black boards for some classrooms.
All these reforms are part of the economy stabilization program, which gives a chance for a better education for children, without aggravating the family budget.
Earlier a meeting was held with the union chairman of large-scale industries and entrepreneurship in connection with the 74th International Fair in Thessaloniki, which will take place between September 5 and 13 and it will host all members of the government. On the fair, Mr. Karamanlis will give out a report about Greece's economic and social policy. Key solutions are expected, not only for education and social policies but also for changing the plan for acting in critical situations - like the period between August 22 and 24, when the wildfires burnt 15 000 hectares of forest. It is also expected that the measures against flooding and erosion of the burnt soil, will be announced.
