Football scorer of "Olympiacos" and the national team of Greece Kostas Mitroglou has finalized his transfer to London "Fulham" and the official information will be communicated in the coming hours. The swifrt striker of the "white-and-red" team will probably send Bulgarian star Dimitar Berbatov to Fulham's reserve bench, according to football commentators, if the information about the upcoming transfer of Berbatov to "Bayern" Leverkusen is not confirmed. Mitroglou is the second Greek footballer in "Fulham" as defender Giorgos Karagounis has been playing in the team several seasons already. According to the Greek commentators, Karagounis had urged the British team to make an offer to Mitroglou and Mitroglou to accept the offer of one of the best clubs in Europe.
The striker, aged 26, has been included in the team of "Olympiacos" which tonight will play with "Atromitos" in the quarterfinals of the Cup of Greece in its stadium "Georgios Karaiskaki." The fact that he has been included in the team does not mean that he will compete, experts recall. The white-and-red team has rejected the initial offer of the London club for 11 million euro and the second for 14 million and eventually agreed on 15 million euro.
The transfer will be finalized after the announcement of the results of the medical examinations undergone by the Greek scorer. Mitroglou’s income will be to the amount of 10 million euro for a four-year contract, i.e. 2.5 million euro per year. It is not yet clear who will replace Kostas Mitroglou in the frontline of "Olympiacos" and become number 11.
Kostas Mitroglou began his football career in the children's team of "Borussia Moenchengladbach". He was part of the youth team of Greece which was European champion in 2007. As a player of "Olympiacos", he was champion of Greece four times and triple winner of the Cup of Greece.
