Nearly 10 million Greeks are voting; the outcome will become known at 21:00

Today, the Greeks are voting in parliamentary elections and must choose from 19 parties and coalitions. The first reliable results will be announced shortly after 21:00 by Singular Logic. 10% of the results will be collected from polling stations by that time.

The elections started at 7:00 and will finish at 19:00. According to official data of the Interior Ministry, 9,836,997 Greeks – 4,763,084 men and 5,073,913 women – have the right to vote. 116,745 will vote for the first time. 108,636 of them are youths aged 18 or 19, and 8,109 are new Greek citizens. The number of voters is up by 28,237 compared with the January elections but down by 13,805 compared to the May 2012 elections.

19 parties and coalitions will participate in today's elections:

  • Golden Dawn
  • Potami
  • Communist Party
  • Democratic Coalition (PASOK-Democratic Left)
  • Independent Greeks
  • Organisation of Internationalist Communists of Greece 
  • Organisation for the reconstruction of the Communist Party
  • Society
  • Greek Popular Democratic Resistance
  • Popular Unity
  • United Popular Front
  • Creation Again! - Thanos Tzimeros
  • Union of Centrists
  • Marxist-Leninist Communist Party
  • Democrats, Society of Values, Pirate Party
  • Antarsia
  • Patriotic Union - Greek Popular Rally (Ellas)

Not all parties put up lists of candidate MPs in all constituencies.

Voters will choose the ballot of their preferred party without cross-marking the candidates they like.

102,055 people will vote in their place of residence after having filed a request to do so. Police departments will be working across the country to provide law and order and whatever services the public needs.
