The Greek media report that the Euroworking Group meeting scheduled for tonight has been postponed indefinitely. During the meeting the technoocrats were to prepare the decisions of the meeting of euro zone finance ministers on the payment of the 2 billion euro tranche to Greece.
The reason is that creditors and the Greek government have failed to agree on several issues, namely on the settlement of the problem of bank loans in the red and the invention of budgetary measures to offset the expected revenue from the imposition of 23% VAT on private education. So far, the Greek government has not confirmed the information about the postponement of the meeting.
The fact that the meeting depends on the clarification of these issues is causing concerns over the possibility of postponing the decision to grant the 2 billion euro tranche to early December when Greece will have to present progress in implementing a number of other commitments in order to receive another tranche of 1 billion euro.
