The Greek police have arrested two Roma people in the town of Katerini, at whose home a baby girl, who is not their biological child, was discovered. The two arrested are a 59 year-old-man and a woman, aged 58. They managed to get a birth certificate for the baby from the Municipality of Athens and the woman tried to declare the child twice at the Municipality of Katerini as a member of the family.
The two, who have not entered into a civil or religious marriage, were charged with kidnapping of a minor, issuing a false certificate and disruption of family order.
The two Roma claimed to have received the baby from a 41-year-old gypsy, who is already in prison for other crimes.

The DNA test confirmed that the baby has no connection with any of the three Roma involved.
The investigation began by order of the Prosecutor’s Office in Athens for a case of declaration of a child.
The baby, who is 10 months old, enjoys good health and is currently in the hospital of the town of Katerini. The two arrested were brought to the Prosecutor’s Office in Katerini, and the prosecutor has ordered a prosecution against them for criminal acts and the investigation in Katerini will initiate an investigation.
The similarity with the case of the "blond angel", Maria, who was found in a Roma camp in Farsala is not accidental. The Roma family from Katerini claimed to have taken the child from the pretended mother of Maria, who is actually now in the women's prison in Korydallos. Currently, blond Maria is being taken care of in a home of the organization "The Smile of the Child" and her custody case will be considered on 18 March.
