A woman and two children (one 6-year-old and the other one a baby) have died and 13 are missing after yet another tragedy off the island of Lesbos, with refugees and immigrants as victims.
After being buffeted by the strong winds in the area of Kara Tepe, a few kilometers north of Mytilene, a small boat with 60 people on board hit the rocks and capsized at about 6:00 am. 45 of the passengers managed to make it ashore. They maintain that about 15 people have been swept into the sea by the fierce storm. Coast Guard and Frontex workers in the area have already found the bodies of three victims.
A helicopter and a ship are exploring the area of the tragedy, while authorities are searching on land as well. The conditions were extremely demanding due to the gale-force north-northeast wind.
