Last night, a blast exploded in the courtyard of the police department in Korydallos at 2:25 am. The explosion caused minor material damage. The police arrested a 28-year-old man who seems to have placed the improvised device. The arrested man was taken to the General Directorate of the Greek Police, where he testified before the magistrate. A beret and gloves were found with him during the search.
Anti-terror forces are at the scene of the crime to collect the remains of the bomb and the police are expected to make an official announcement later in the day. According to initial information, the man threw the improvised device in the yard of the department. Earlier, police officers on duty saw him go out from the residential building behind the police department. They themselves caught him shortly after the explosion. The explosion broke the windows on the ground floor of the police station and surrounding buildings.
In early February 2009, representatives of the terrorist organization Sect of Revolutionaries attacked the police department in Korydallos. Then, the terrorists fired and threw grenades at the department.
