A self-made explosive device went off in the shopping center of the wealthy Athenian suburb Kifissia, northern Athens. There hasn’t been any official warning about the explosion. Although the incident happened at 18:30, when many people visit the restaurants and cafeterias around, no one was injured. The explosive was placed in a garbage bin, and the flames soon reached and burnt down a store of the clothing brand Gant, making jeans, sweaters and other sportswear.
7 fire-cars with 21 firemen arrived at the scene to fight the fire. The store suffered considerable material losses. The case was forwarded to the prosecution. Police is still unable to say if the explosion was an act of terrorism or revenge.
