The number of infected people with the swine flu virus in Greece is over 290. 32 new cases were reported today by the Northern and Southern Greece Health Lab.
From the new infected cases, 17 have arrived from abroad, six were in contact with people who already had the H1N1 virus, and for the other 10 it is unknown how the infection happened.
On Friday a virus carrier was registered, who is working in the central offices of the Greek Telecommunication Organization. A team from the Center for Control and Prevention of Diseases arrived in the building, which assured the employees in the organization that it is not necessary to take extreme measures but only to keep the basic hygiene rules.
Health minister Dimitris Avramopoulos said that the following three months will be critical and that 30% increase in infected cases is expected from fall and on. But the minister assured that 8 million vaccines will arrive in Greece until fall, so that 4 million citizens will be vaccinated twice – in October and February and priority will have weaker children and the elderly.
From the 290 infected in total, 128 have completely been cured and the rest are following their doctor’s advice.
Experts advise to regularly wash your hands, because this protects from microbes, especially after sneezing or coughing. In case there is no sink around you, you should always bring wet napkins with alcohol with you. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, because the virus enters the organism from there. When sneezing or coughing, put a napkin over your mouth and throw it in the garbage after that.
For now the symptoms of the disease are mild and the Health Research Center and the Center for Control and Prevention of Diseases are in full alert.
