“The celebration of October 28^th reminds us of the heroism of the Greek people against fascism during the Second World War,” said the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party Barack Obama in a congratulation letter to Greece in connection with the national holiday in the country. He stressed his exceptional friendship, which connects him and the vice-president candidate Joe Biden with the Greek community in America and mostly in Chicago. “The Greek community in Chicago is big and active. I have been working with them very closely and they are participating actively in all political procedures in the USA,” says Barack Obama.

The Democratic candidate admits that his country is facing many challenges in the beginning of the 21^st century and it is very important to have partners to depend on. “This is why I am working closely with the Greek-Americans and I know that one day I will be able to depend on also on Greece as a partner, as well as on the rest European countries,” is also said in the congratulations letter from Obama.
