The Israeli police was forced to interfere and part a group of Armenian and Greek clerics, who got into a physical fight in front of the “Jesus’ Resurrection” church in Jerusalem. The priests were fighting so fiercely, that at the end many Armenians and three Greeks were taken to a hospital without a risk for their lives. This is the forth time, where Armenian and Greek clerics get into a fight in front of the mentioned temple.

Yesterday the reason was previously arranged sanctification of the cross in “Jesus’ Resurrection,” which had to be held according to the Armenian Church calendar and tradition. When the Armenian priests arrived, they tried to get the Greek Church security out of their way. The Greeks resisted and this was the start of the physical fight among the clerics, which would not have ended if it wasn’t for the Israeli police.

The Jerusalem Patriarchate stated officially that this wasn’t the first time, where Armenian priests question the Greek character and not only the “Jesus’ Resurrection” temple, but also the Patriarchate itself.
