This is only half of its average level during the past 3 years. This year’s September and October were rainier than last years’, but because the months before that were too dry, the water storage basins didn’t fill up.

            According to a statistic from the water supply services, the water consumption increases with 10% every year, this is why they propose urgent measures for restricting water consumption. Understandably, the first one is to increase water prices, which will most likely happen towards the end of next spring. Also, they offer that watering agricultural plantations with water, which has gone through biological treatment, should be allowed. Hydrologists warn that Athens is facing another mild and rainless winter.
