The temperatures in Greece dropped drastically Sunday afternoon, it is raining in most parts of the country and in the mountains it is snowing. The bad weather will stay until Christmas, when snow is expected even in the center of Athens. Travelling in Parnasos Mountain must be done with chains especially during the night. Chains are recommended in Parnitha Mountain as well, where last night it snowed until the Nea Makri road.

The snow will continue to fall and today in the mountain regions including the high spots of Crete and Euboea. It will snow in the mountains around Athens and in the Northern suburbs. The low temperatures and the snow will remain until Christmas without causing any serious problems on the roads or for the electricity. The Greek Civil Security forbid ships to leave the port until a second notice because there are storm winds in both the Aegean and Ionian Seas. At some points the wind reached 9 Beaufort.

Yesterday hundreds of people spent long hours at the ski center in Parnasos Mountain, where the snow blanket got to 5 centimeters. A tourist bus, without chains turned over and blocked the road for hours. Because of this the traffic on the road to Arahova was impossible. The road opened after 05:00 pm on Sunday when fire trucks came on the accident site and helped for the turning of the bus.
