Amazement of the airlines and travelers was caused by the court’s decision, which announced that the 24 hour strike of the air-traffic controllers is illegal. The airlines had already informed the passengers about the upcoming 24 hour strike and all flight were cancelled for today, January 28^th. This morning everybody – passengers and airlines were left with stunned after they found out from the media that the strike will not take place. As a result, tens of domestic and international flights were left cancelled and the people were astounded and did not know whether they will fly or not.

As a reply to the court’s decision, the air-traffic controllers decided to strike for three hours in every shift. They are protesting against the medical insurances they receive and are insisting for better social insurances.

The Athenian court announced the 24 hour strike of the public employees as illegal as well. They will strike only for four hours from 12:00pm today. Their trade union blamed the court for being biased because lately many announced strikes have been declared as illegal.
