8 explosions in one day

Eight explosions targeted against carefully selected aims ignited yesterday in Athens and shocked the police system in the country. Greece is the country with the most powerful police force in the EU and the forth one in the whole world with one policeman to every 200 citizens. Despite that the authorities cannot manage to cope with the uprising wave of leftist terrorism. It was a miracle that the explosions yesterday did not leave any victims, if we do not count an old 70 year old woman, who jumped from the third floor to the second out of fear during one of the explosions. Now she is in the Evangelismos hospital with broken limbs.

As grreporter.info wrote yesterday, the first explosion was in front of the prosecutor’s house – Dimitris Papangelopoulos, who is supervising the investigations of the terrorist attacks in Greece. The explosion happened yesterday at 06:30 am in front of his house in the Athenian suburb Ilioupoulis, exactly when the security was changing shifts and there were no policemen present. Experts believe that the situation around Papandelopoulos’ home was strictly watched by the criminals for days and they knew the region and the habits of the prosecutor very well. As a style the explosion reminds very much of another one – the one in front of the house of the deputy-minister of internal affairs Kostas Makroyanakis on the famous street Skoufa in the central neighborhood Kolonaki.

According to primary information the explosive device was handmade and put on the wall of the building. The ignition caused only material damages but two fire trucks were needed in order to put out of the fire. “For one more time, the government cannot manage to take security measures for its employees, who are facing great risks due to their job,” says a special declaration of the Prosecutors Association of Greece. Dimitris Papangelopoulos is a key figure in the fight against terrorism in Greece and the attack against him says a lot. The public was shocked by the fact that he is guarded only by one policeman. Meanwhile, the judges of the ended terrorist case of “November 17th,” some of whom are retired, are protected by 35 policemen!

Two explosions were targeted against the parliament member from PASOK and former foreign minister Theodoros Pangalos – one of them exploded in front of his political office and the other one in front of his daughter’s apartment. Another handmade device exploded in front of the accounting of “Rizospastis” – the newspaper of the Communist Party in Greece. The rest of the explosions were targeted against lawyers, who are somehow connected with cases against terrorists and anarchists.

It was not calm also in Thessaloniki last night (on the photo). The anarchists were demonstrating and everything ended with conflicts between them and the police in front of the While Tower in the center of the city. The protesters were throwing stones and chairs at the policemen and were yelling offending slogans and on the other hand the police were answering with tear gas.
