Terrorists attacked ALTER TV

Dark memories came to life in the last two months in Greece and awake the forgotten fear from terror in the country, which lived through the junta and the era of the leftist terrorism in the face of “November 17th.” After a series of attacks against police stations, lawyers, connected to the anti-terrorism fight, and against politicians, tonight the free speech became a terrorist target. At 07:15pm four masked man with motorcycles attacked the private TV station Alter and after they got rid of the security with the words “We don’t have any bills to solve with you,” they shot 14 times at cars of the TV and threw a bomb in the entrance hall, which thankfully did not explode. The bullets are from a 9 millimeter gun.

According to primary evaluations of the police, the attack did not aim to spill blood – something, which was very easy to do in this case. The attack took place in the busiest hour of every TV station – 45 minutes before the main news, when all journalists are in the newsroom and in the TV shows offices there people discuss topics and scripts for the following day. An interesting detail is that the terrorists approached the back entrance of the TV, which is used by the employees and not the central entrance, which is publicly known. According to experts this means that the attack was well thought through, the place was under surveillance and the actions were precise.

Alter journalists from the “Jungle” program saw the attackers, three out of whom were wearing masked uniforms and the fourth one was wearing civil light clothes. The chief editor of Makis Triandafilopoulos’ show appeals to his colleagues to be reserved in their comments until a terrorist organization takes responsibility for the attack. According to him we are about to find out why exactly the TV Alter was chosen but the real goal of the attackers is to spread fear among the free speech in Greece. It is a coincidence that before, Alter and more precisely the “Jungle” program shot a scandalous report with a hidden camera about the mafia in the Bulgarian city Sandanski.

Journalists are the usual aims of the leftist terrorists in the country. During the “November 17th” era, publishers and democratic journalists were executed cold blood on the Athens streets and another private TV station – “Mega” was the target for shootings with antitank racket. In the last 10 years this is the first big terrorist attack against the media. Specialists conclude that style wise the attack coincides with the ones against the police stations, which became victims and the blood shedding, was avoided on purpose.
