Greek is one of the creators of the online guide TrustedPlaces, which reaped a lot of success in England and managed to gather almost 1 million users. All of them wrote over 40 000 reviews of restaurants, bars, and clubs in 800 cities all around world.

30 year old Sokratis Papafloratos is one of the creators of this guide together with his French partner Walid Al Saqqaf. Both of them live in London and in 2006 they realized their idea by starting the website TrustedPlaces.com – a service, which interests people looking for new places to have fun in.

The characteristic thing about the website is that the reviews are written by users and members of the site, because “our goal was to create a guide, in which everybody could share their opinions – good or bad, from their outings. Our idea is for this site to become a guide, which will be developed fast by the people, who live in the city, where they rate restaurants, bars, clubs, etc,” says Sokratis for Katimerini newspaper.

TrustPlaces works as a social network, which specializes in entertainment places around the city. Until now, its members have written more reviews than the there are in TimeOut, which exists for 15 years. “For two years we managed to gather around 40 000 reviews about 375 000 places in 800 cities all around the world and for about a month, the members of our website became 1 million,” says Sokratis.

Publishing on the website are people who want to share their opinion about a place they visited but also there are the micro-bloggers, who write almost everything they do. Also there are the connoisseur-bloggers of good cuisine, who write texts of about 500 words as a review of a given restaurant or a dish. Those reviews can compete even with the ones of experts in the field.

One of TrustPlaces’ future goals is to transfer the service onto mobile phones and to allow the writing of reviews from cell phones. Actually, the initial idea in 2006 was to create a service for mobile phone, but one thing led to another and they created a platform for computers. “The idea of TrustedPlaces will be complete when computers and mobile phones work on the same platform,” finalizes Sokratis.
