Exactly at 04:07am this morning the citizens of the Athenian suburb Argiroupolis woke up from a powerful explosion, which shook the neighborhood. The reason – unknown individuals detonated a 20 kilo bomb in front of a Eurobank office on the central Athenian boulevard Vouliagmenis, which remained closed until 07:00am. Due to the early hour of the explosion there are no victims, only damages.

The Greek antiterrorism services and the agents for neutralizing explosive devices are still on the accident scene. They are gathering pieces from the 20-kilo bomb with the hope to find something out about the terrorists. The bomb was placed in a suitcase and most likely was with a clock mechanism. The explosion was so strong that it split in half a cement column, which was right next to the Eurobank’s office. There are damages on nearby buildings and parked cars.

The terrorists had informed beforehand the editor’s office of “Elefterotipia newspaper about the explosion but until now, no organization has taken the responsibility for the crime. When the first patrol car had come to the accident scene, the policemen were faced with four of the terrorists, who were wearing motorcycle helmets and one of them was holding a big black bag. When the policemen asked to see some ID’s, one of the terrorists pointed a weapon at them. The rest of them got on their motorcycles and left.
