An initiative of the Information Society Program, which is financed by the EU, will give free laptops to 120 000 first year high school students. Students will receive a coupon for between ?400 and ?500 (the amount is not yet set) and with it, they will be able to buy a laptop.

The program “Computer for a Student – Digital Class” has been proposed to the EU with a budget of ?60 million and it is supposed to distribute the laptop coupons to high school students until September 15th.

Together with this, students will be given USB sticks with their lessons. This initiative is supposed to be repeated in the upcoming years as well and the Economy Minister Yannis Papatanasiou announced that 1 200 books for students between 1st and 12th grade will be digital for the new school year.

During the presentation of the program “Digital Greece,” Minister Papatanasiou also announced the start of programs for digital funds, which will be electronically connected with pharmacies. Through them the ones insured in the health funds will be able to be informed and receive prescriptions. Pharmacists will be given coupons, so they can buy computers and everything needed, in order to have access to the digital funds.
