Shortly before 8:00 pm on Sunday a shooting with a Kalashnikov killed a man, aged 35, probably of Albanian origin. The accident took place on the corner of Themistokleous and Koleti streets in the central Exarcheia neighbourhood. Two people on a motorcycle had approached a group of 5-6 pedestrians and one of the motorcyclists had opened fire with a Kalashnikov.
The injured person was immediately taken to the nearest Elpis hospital, where his death was established.

The hospital reports that the victim had seven bullet wounds and one stab wound. He had no identity card but carried a loaded gun.
The police suggest that one of the motorcyclists shot the victim with the Kalashnikov and the other stabbed him with a knife, both of them fleeing afterwards. All night police patrols carried out checks in the Exarcheia neighbourhood to find the perpetrators.
The authorities believe that case is related with the settling of accounts between criminal groups.
