"Orgy" with the money of the Greek Postal Services

Dispersed millions of Euros for trips - made and fake, for cosmetics, for entertainment in luxury resorts in Arahova, on Karpenisi, in Eretria, in Vouliagmeni, directly assigned projects illegally, arranged contests for suppliers, repairs of villas and building pools. This is the activity report in recent years of 84 senior officials from the Greek State Post organization. The State Chief Commissioner George Shionakiotis will ask for the thorough investigation of their accounts for the period 2004-2009

The aim is to verify the property - real estate, personal property, participation in companies, bank accounts, of Greek postal “golden boys and girls”. Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Nikos Sifounakis asked accountants to deconstructing the financial statements of the Greek Post, because allegations are quite serious. The new Director of Greek Posts Panos Vournas revealed for Vima newspaper that one of the directors has already been fired and soon the case will be in the office of the prosecutor. "From the very first moment that we took over, we realized that something is wrong in the Greek Post. How is it possible for the organization to present €7 million profit for the period 2004-2009 if the actual amount is minus €37 million?!” says Mr. Vournas.

The "sins" of the Greek Postal Services have no end, as a document sent from the Ministry of Finance shows. The Ministry requires scrutiny because of the following allegations:

* €100 million for tenders announced by the Greek Postal Services and no project has been completed

* The hybrid postal services of Siemens, which was given out without a tender, needs to be verified whether it has even begun functioning

* The role of the spouse of an employee of the Greek Postal Services, who was appointed to the Commission for supplies and was a former employee of Siemens.

* For the money allocated for the project "Society of Information" and whether it was tendered

The document, with which financial review can be made, appears that there are "tens of dual paid fuel bills and non-existent trips.” Also a report is needed on what amount went to "house repairs, for personal holidays, parties, cosmetics, travel and expenses for family vacations and trips."

The five questions posed by the Audit Commission are:

1. How suddenly after reporting €7 million profit, after the change of Government the Greek Postal Services report statement with minus €37 million?

2. What were the salaries of 80 golden boys and golden girls and what positions did they all hold?

3. Were there salaries higher than that of the President and how much money should be returned?

4. What happened to the reserve of €60 million?

5. How much did it cost for taxpayers the dozens of parties at bars and luxury hotels?
