Political life in Greece was marked by two resignations last week. One was of former Minister of Finance Yanis Varoufakis. He withdrew from office as he had taken it, through a post on his personal blog. With his contradictory behaviour, he managed to divide public opinion instead of uniting it, as expected in a time of crisis and hardships for Greece, not only political, but also economic and social. In our latest poll, we asked you, "How will you remember Yanis Varoufakis?" Here is the analysis of the results.

42% of readers of the Bulgarian version of GRReporter will remember the former finance minister for destroying the Greek economy within five months while attempting to prove his theories. 25% respondents will remember him for his supercilious behaviour, arrogant look and challenging dress code. 18% are of the opinion that it is not over with Varoufakis’ political career and they expect him to return on a white horse in politics. 14% of respondents in our poll believe that Yanis Varoufakis will remain Greece’s most popular and beloved finance minister. In general, Yanis Varoufakis has left a negative impression in 67% of our readers and they will not remember him with good, while for 32% he is a positive political character.

50% of respondents in the poll on the English page see the former finance minister as a man whose economic theories have caused damage to the Greek economy during the five months of his administration. Varoufakis remains the most beloved and popular finance minister of Greece for 21% of readers. 15% predict that he is about to come back on the political scene in a striking manner and 13% will remember him with his haughty and arrogant behaviour, as well as with his provocative dress code. The conclusion is that Varoufakis has not left a good impression in 63% of readers whereas 38% strongly sympathize with him.

The greatest disapproval of Varoufakis comes from the direct victims of his policies, the readers of our Greek webpage. The majority of them, 63%, perceive the actions of the former minister as damaging to Greece. 20% predict his triumphant return in politics. Only 10% of readers believe that Yanis Varoufakis will be remembered as the most beloved finance minister of Greece. This is the lowest rate in the three polls obtained by that option. Only 7% disapprove his behaviour, attitude and way of dressing. Obviously, the proverb that "It does not matter whether a cat is white or black as long as it catches mice" is true for our Greek readers. In summary, the results of the poll on the Greek page indicate the greatest disapproval of Yanis Varoufakis, 70%. The remaining 30% of respondents in the poll not only approve the actions of the former minister but also expect him to return in politics.

The general conclusion from the results of the three surveys is that the larger part of our readers will remember Yanis Varoufakis as an unsuccessful finance minister with extravagant behaviour and way of dressing, while only a minority supports him and predicts his future political career.

The question in our new poll is, "How do you evaluate the measures provided for in the agreement between Greece and its creditors?" Remember to justify your opinion in the comments section below the poll, as it is important to us!
