Papandreou to make changes in the cabinet in the coming hours

The Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou is preparing to make major changes in his cabinet, report Greek media. The new faces are expected to become part of it in the coming days and hours. The replacement of the Minister of Finance Georgios Papakonstantinou is considered to be certain and a consensus figure is wanted for this position. One of the most possible names is Locas Papademos, former vice president of the European Central Bank and current economic adviser to the Prime Minister. Papademos has a very high profile in the financial circles in Europe.

The Prime Minister George Papandreou is expected to make an official statement from the Maxim palace in the next hours. According to the Athens news agency, he would not call early elections. For now.

Today in the afternoon, the Greek Prime Minister talked on the phone with the leader of the extreme right party LAOS George Karatzaferis and the leader of the Democratic Alliance Dora Bakoyannis. Tomorrow the President Karolos Papoulias will meet Karatzaferis.
