The finance and legal committees of the Greek Parliament endorsed in principle at second reading all the provisions of the third bailout programme. The debates went down in an atmosphere of extreme intolerance and acerbic political wrangling.
Shortly after 22.30, another speakers' council started with the aim of thrashing out a detailed voting procedure of the third Memorandum. After this is done, a plenary is in order but no one knows its starting time.
An unrestrained schism seems to reign among SYRIZA MPs, with the party hovering between split and self-destruction. Less dramatic, but equally scathing were the debates within the parliamentary group of New Democracy, which ultimately decided to support the Memorandum.
While the Greek parliament got entangled in procedural trifles, the Finnish one approved the new three-year bailout programme for Greece worth €89 billion.
