Most leaders of the parties to participate in Sunday’s elections, decided to spend today with their families, friends, and journalists. Kostas Karamanlis, Greece’s current prime minister, was seen out with his family visiting the new Acropolis Museum. He was accompanied by his wife Natasha and their twins – Aleksandros and Aliki. Aleksandors Mandis, the director of the First Archaeological Service himself walked the Karamanlis family around the Museum. Karamanlis will cast his vote at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in the usual location – in Kalamaria – an Eastern area in Thessaloniki.
PASOK leader Georgios Papandreou on the other hand invited journalists to a fish restaurant in Keratsini. He was also seen at an electoral pavilion of his party at Klavtomonos square in central Athens. At the pavilion, the shadow prime minister expressed his gratitude to volunteering supporters and international journalists. Mr. Papandreou himself will vote tomorrow at 12 a.m. in the electoral centre in Gastri in Nea Eritrea and is scheduled to arrive in the party’s office on Hippocrates Street at 6 p.m.
Communist leader Aleka Papariga invited journalists and party supporters from different fields, including artists, to a tavern in the Athens area of Kalithea. Guests were looking forward to a deserved evening of recreation and had a glass of wine after a tedious pre-election campaign. Ms. Papariga will vote in Nea Ionia and will spend an anxious evening in the party’s central office, waiting for the official results.
The leader of the left coalition SYRIZA – Aleksis Tsipras had also invited journalists and party members for a meal. The gathering took place in the politician’s beloved are of Athens – Thission – in the feet of the Acropolis.
Georgios Karatzaferis – leader of the right-wing LAOS party was joined by collaborators in the well known “Bairaktari” restaurant at Monastiraki square. He will be travelling to Thessaloniki to cast his vote tomorrow morning and will return to Athens in the afternoon in order to follow the election results in his party’s headquarters.
Ecologist leader Nikos Chrysogelos was expectedly photographed having a walk in the national park behind the Parliament and around Monastiraki, together with party members.
