Former Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, who lately has been holding several meetings with members of PASOK,  will continue on Monday when he is to meet with Theodoros Pangalos, Apostolos Kaklamanis, Petros Efthimiou and Harris Kastanidis.

As reported in Saturday's issue of the newspaper "Ethnos", Mr. Papandreou leaves all possible scenarios for tomorrow open, and according to sources, his goal is for PASOK to continue moving forward united, without jeopardizing the success of the Government of Papademos. Papandreou himself says that he is not "tied to any post" and is ready for anything.

PASOK’s "next day," already clearly interests several senior members of the movement, who in interviews for Sunday papers express their various opinions, the common element of which is the beginning of a peaceful internal party dialogue.

For example, in an interview with the Sunday issue of "Ethnos" newspaper,  Andreas Loverdos stresses that we must first ensure that the sixth instalment is received, and then begin deliberations within PASOK, while Michalis Chrisochoidis, stressing that the relationship of trust between politicians and the public has been broken, notes that a new social contract for fair changes in all areas is required. "Without guilt, without intrusive ideas, without stereotypes," he added.

For his part, Harris Kastanidis told "Real News" newspaper: "Is there really anybody who believes on reasonable grounds that the issue of leadership of PASOK must be placed in the midst of the storm? In the upcoming days an agreement should be made at the top of PASOK, that what we should do is to fight in order to save the country without dealing with internal problems and disputes."

Costas Skandalidis wants the immediate initiation of internal party procedures: "I believe that the leader of PASOK will take the necessary initiatives to ensure these critical conditions. It is his national and historical duty to lead the party towards a new era. And this must begin immediately," Skandalidis said.

After warning that PASOK is in a critical situation and the political essence is at stake, Yannis Rangousis added that the problem is deeper and more complex than the question of leadership of the party. "This is a problem of political identity and reviewing the principles of the party. This is the need for political and ideological reconstruction of the modern Democratic Party."

Panos Beglitis deemed necessary "for the reconstruction and necessary changes," and Christos Protopapas is of the opinion that George Papandreou will undertake all necessary initiatives.

On the other hand Michalis Kahrimakis told "Proto Thema" newspaper that George Papandreou must remain a head of PASOK until the elections, and in response to those who question the leadership, he notes: "Mr. Papandreou was elected to be Prime Minister until 2013. Let us not forget this."
