Greek Parliament President Filippos Petsalnikos informed the President of the Republic Carlos Papoulias of the final results of the elections held on Sunday. New Democracy has 108 seats, the radical left from SYRIZA take 52 seats, PASOK remains third with 41 seats, Independent Greece - 33 seats, the Communist Party has 26 parliamentary seats, the Nazi Golden Dawn received 21, Fotis Kouvelis’ Democratic Left has 19 seats. Petsalnikos described the situation as critical and urged political parties to show responsibility to take the country out of this crisis. "I hope that the decisions to be taken will be in favour of the country and society," said Petsalnikos and stressed that Greece must remain a member of the eurozone. Carlos Papoulias, in turn, said he is optimistic by nature thus demonstrating his confidence in Antonis Samaras’ ability to form a stable government.
