The anti-terrorism service apprehended Nikos Maziotis’ fugitive accomplice Giorgos Petrakakos. This happened during a police raid that began this morning in the town of Volos, at the intersection of Galias and Perevou streets. Together with him, the authorities apprehended one woman and one other person.
According to initial information, the accomplice of Nikos Maziotis lived with the woman in a flat rented by the latter, probably with a fake ID.
The third detainee lived in a hotel that is located on the sea front in Volos, at a distance of less than one kilometre away from the flat where Petrakakos was hiding.
The three did not resist the arrest and, according to the information, weapons and a large quantity of ammunition were found in the flat.
An investigation is underway in another area of Volos and a similar police action is taking place in Athens too.
A hideaway was discovered in the area of Volos, on the corner of Karambatsaki and Papafi streets, and weapons were found in it. Weapons and a large quantity of ammunition were also found in a flat on Perevou street.
Giorgos Petrakakos was involved in the like-in-a-film robbery of the bank in Distomo, in which the perpetrators escaped by speedboat.
The Greek police are expected to make an official announcement by the end of the day.
