Greek police have presented to the public the photograph and personal details of a pensioner, aged 71, who was arrested on charges of abuse of minors. The name of the arrested paedophile is George Mouras, who was born in the Arcadia area in 1941 and is a resident of the Athens suburb of Iliopouli.
Criminal persecution has been initiated against the pensioner of alleged serial luring of children under the age of 12 and 14.
The police said they have disclosed the details of the arrested paedophile in order to protect the society. The authorities have urged citizens who can provide information on the case to do so anonymously and call 210 6476370 in the first division for the protection of minors in the police station of Attica.
Meanwhile, police are still searching for Marios Papageorgiou, aged 26, who was kidnapped on 8 August this year. Although seven of the kidnappers were apprehended on 16 October, he is still missing and the operation related to discovering his whereabouts is turning into a thriller each passing day.
The police consider as crucial the testimony of two witnesses - a physician from the district of Achaia and a bank officer from the Athens district of Neos Kosmos. The authorities are searching for the young man in a village in the area of Mani, which is not very close to Athens, where the organizer of the kidnapping, Petros Mihaleakos, aged 71, was at that time.
The case file contains data on a close collaborator of a minister, a former senior official of the service combating financial crime and at least two uniformed men who have friendly relations with the organizer of the kidnapping and with whom he had spoken during the investigation period.
Another interesting fact is that during the negotiations with Marios’ family, his kidnappers "calmed down" his mother, "Your son went on a pilgrimage to a monastery" or "We have just given him a cigarette and he is with a beautiful woman right now." In another conversation, they told her that her son went to America.
During the interrogatory, the organizer Petros Mihaleakos told the police that the victim was involved in a drug affair. His friends, however, refuted this by stating, "Marios hated drugs and never used any."
According to the police, the case file contains information that has not been disclosed so far and it may hide the truth about the fate of Marios Papageorgiou. In her testimony, Mihaleakos’ wife said, "About 11 August, some people rang at the door and Petros went down to talk to them. When he got back, he was pale and he did not want to talk to anyone for hours." The police do not rule out the possibility of him being informed that the victim aged 26 was dead.
