A raid for human trafficking, which had smuggled Bulgarians in Greece in order to make them prostitute in the streets and hotels of Athens, as well as to take ova from the women, was captured by the Greek police in cooperation with the Bulgarian authorities.

A total of seven people were arrested, out of whom two were Bulgarians aged 25 and 26 years who were charged with people trafficking and pimping, two Romanian women aged 26 and 36 years and a Greek 47 years old, a doctor by occupation. All of them have been accused of trading with human organs – ova, for violation of the law for "application of medical assisted conception. Two other Bulgarians - a man and woman, at the age of 18 years were also arrested and charged with violation of the law on prostitution. Police is seeking another 20-years old Bulgarian girl.

According to the police in the beginning of November 2009 raid members have enticed a 32-years old Bulgarian who lived in extreme poverty, to come to Greece to work. Then they brought her in Greece, they forcefully took all her documents and then "sold" her in Athens for 1800 euros to the 26-years-old arrested Bulgarian.

The 26-years-old Bulgarian together with his 20-years-old accomplice mentally harassed and beat the woman, they made her to prostitute in the streets and in hotels in the center of Athens and were taking all of the money she was receiving. Furthermore, they took her to a clinic for in-vitro conception, where the 47-years-old accused Greek doctor along with his 37-years old accomplice from Romania made the woman sign documents written in Greek, which she could not read and understand what the case was. Then for 12 days they were putting her injections, and during those days in they took her three more times to an examination, and finally the doctor took eight of her ova for the amount of 2,000 euros which he gave to the 37-years-old Romanian woman immediately after receiving the ova.

The 37-years-old Romanian woman in the last four years has given ova three times in the same way for the amount of 2,000 euros. She has sent to the doctor at the clinic six other foreign women who have undergone the same procedure for the same charge.

Yesterday at the clinic arrived the 26-years old accused Romanian woman who was bringing a fellow countrywoman at the age of 23 to undergo the procedure for removal of ova. To her distress at that time in the clinic there was a police squad and judicial staff person who were inspecting. She was arrested immediately, as it turned out that she was working overtime by finding young foreign women whom she was bringing to the 47-years-old doctor and then taking half of the money which the doctor was paying depending on how many ova were taken.

Moreover, the police has discovered that almost every day the first two accused Bulgarians were bringing in the center of Athens fellow countrymen at the age of 18 - a boy and girl to put them into prostitution. They were finding the customers and then were wondering around the hotel in which the two youngsters were going together with their customers to make sure they do not escape. All involved in the case have been taken to the prosecutor’s office.
