A police operation in Farsala near Larissa has found a girl kidnapped by gypsies. She is fair-skinned, fair-haired, blue-eyed and very different from her "parents". The authorities were suspicious and asked the family to undergo the DNA test. Its results prove that the girl is not their biological child.
According to the official police report, in 2009, for unknown reasons, the Roma family took the child away from her real parents and, somehow, was able to obtain her birth certificate from the municipality in Athens and even a tax code, AFM, for the girl. The 40 -year-old "mother" has two identity cards with different data and she is registered in two places in order to be paid social benefits. In Larissa she is registered as the mother of five girls and one boy, and as the mother of four girls in Trikala. One registration shows that, within five months, the woman "had given birth" to three children and the other that she "had given birth" to another three children within three and a half months. The 38-year-old "father" is registered in a third place, in Farsala alone, as the father of another four children.
The girl, aged 4, is now under the supervision of a psychologist at the local police station of Thessaly. By order of the prosecutor, the Roma family has been deprived of custody and "The Smile of the Child" organization is temporarily taking care of the child. The charges raised against the Roma family include kidnapping of a minor child and forging of documents. The police have made public the photographs of the child, appealing to those people who know something about the case to help find the truth.
