Vicky Stamati, former Minister of Defence Akis Tsochatzopoulos’ wife who yesterday escaped from Dromokaitio Psychiatric Hospital, was found in the Athens district of Haidari. According to Mega TV, she was found in a car near Panagitsa church. The police also found a man who, according to the authorities, had played a major role in organizing her escape.
Earlier, To Vima newspaper reported that Vicky Stamati had expressed her desire to surrender to investigating prosecutor Grigoris Peponis. Through a third person, she notified her lawyer Frangiskos Rangousis, who in turn informed the Court of Appeal.
The wife of Akis Tsochatzopoulos who is sentenced for corruption is also serving a sentence of 12 years in prison, and the court has repeatedly rejected her requests to be released to take care of her 8-year-old son, who has been raised by her parents for four years now. She suffers from severe depression and she was placed in Dromokaitio Hospital for treatment, from where she managed to escape.
Now the authorities are focusing the investigation on the people who so professionally had organized her escape.
