Police strike a blow against the Greek-Mexican mafia

The Greek and the US anti-drug services struck a blow against a Greek-Mexican mafia organization that supplies the Greek market with cocaine. In a joint operation, they seized 230 kilograms of cocaine worth tens of millions of euro from a flat in the Athens suburb of Voula, and apprehended three people, including a Greek from the city of Messinia and a Canadian of Greek origin. Accusations against more suspects, Greeks and foreigners, will be brought in the coming days.
The cocaine arrived in Latin America in the form of a shipment of bananas and pineapples from Panama. This is the second case that proves the presence of branches of Mexican drug cartels in Greece. Two years ago, the bodies of two men who are believed to have been executed while squaring accounts between different groups of the Greek-Mexican drug mafia were found in the southern suburbs of Athens.
