The Greek police took extreme security measures and brought the arrested yesterday Alket Rizai and his friend Soula to the prosecutor. They are an Albanian couple, who lived together with Hristos Anagnostopoulos – the person, who gave Rizai a luxurious car.
The criminals arrived with four police cars and motorcycles. Rizai has changed his appearance –dark hair and few extra kilos compared to his short blond hair from few months ago. The prosecutor charged the two Albanians and Anagnostopoulos with assisting a criminal. It is expected that the criminals will testify later today in front of the chief investigator.
The police believe that the criminals managed to hide for so long because they changed many apartments, cars and they had fake IDs. For the police Rizai said that the people who helped him are his relatives and they have nothing to do with his prison break. Anagnostopoulos, on the other hand, gave Rizai and Soula a bullet proof Mercedes.
The police has been looking for Rizai and his friend Soula since February and they were finally arrested after an operation by the Special Forces Squad and the Security Department. They were arrested at their house – rented just few days before their arrest. The owners of the house did not suspect who they were giving it to. The two Albanians presented themselves as a businesswoman called Hristina Petridi and her cousin from Germany. “Hristina” told the landlords that with her husband they have a clothing store in the center of the city. She also had said that they would like to live their permanently because they like nature and the silent neighborhood. They met the following day, in order for the Albanians to sign the contract but because they did not fill out the necessary tax number, the contract was left unsigned. Despite this the owners gave them keys to the house, so that the couple can move in during the weekend. Soula paid them €1200 – €600 for deposit and €600 for the first month. The payment took place in the house of Melas family, where Soula went alone. Rizai waited for her downstairs in a Smart, which they were using to go around the city. The owner of the house described Soula as tall, beautiful and smart woman and Rizai as sport type and attractive. People living in the neighborhood said that they have seen the Smart many times lately. Probably the couple was looking for the best house – far away from crowded places, so they can hide from the police.
The police was looking for Alket Rizai since February, when he and Vasilis Paleokostas ran away from the prison in Koridalos in a helicopter.
