The prosecutor’s office and the state administration inspectorate are investigating the folder containing a Greek TV team’s disclosures of suspicious activities by trade unionists at the Greek Public Power Corporation DEH.

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change Tina Birbili issued an order for investigation of all disclosures and information on businesses, which some officials and trade unionists at the company had "run" with public money.

There are more and more disclosures every day. Control authorities will investigate the company’s sponsorship of the trade union of GENOP officials, and the participation of the former GENOP secretary Rizos Rizos in a firm associated with the company mobile phones of the employees.

He submitted his resignation as the journalistic investigation proved that the flat on 36 Sturnari Str. on the door of which there is a plate "Organisation for social activities of DAH employees" is owned by his daughter and is the main office of the firm dealing with the company phones.

The folder contains information on the advertising agency established by the trade unionist through which he has published a magazine and on his participation in tenders and money-lending circles along with another employee of DEH named Lukianos Kavalieratos. Their involvement in two tenders has been proved until today. One of them was for a villa worth 2.5 million euros, located in the seaside suburb of Voula.

The second auction was for the flat of a woman who told for the TV broadcasting that when she had visited the real estate office of Lukianos Kavalieratos to sell her flat she had been paid an amount equal to 30 percent of the actual price, and they had requested back almost double the amount. The woman signed a document in which Rizos Rizos’ father in law and a relative of Lukianos Kavalieratos were entered as creditors. Interestingly, the particular office is also on 36 Sturnari Str.

The teams of the Jungle and Yellow press TV broadcasts of the famous journalist Makis Triandafilopoulos continue their investigations.

They are expected to present the "dark link" between the power supply company and the private companies of its employees who have connections with senior politicians as well as the scandal on the immodest amount of 3 million euros paid for the security of the company’s installations.

The company owned by one of the employees designed the security installations of a number of buildings and then the approved companies subcontracted part of the project work to the company of the DEH’s employee quite by chance.

Viewers literally blocked ALTERA TV call centre after the first TV broadcasting. They submitted information about the parallel activities of the company employees who tapped the the treasury’ barrel, taking advantage of their positions.

At the same time, the public opinion was stunned by the disclosure that the union organization GENOP had received in recent years government grants worth 25 million euros for "a few days of employees’ leave, realization of events and links to similar trade unions abroad "

The funding refers to the years between 1999 and 2010. The fact was revealed by a letter the company had sent to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, requesting an increase in state subsidies to the trade union organization.

Following the fuss the journalistic revelations have caused, today the power supply company management brought an action against six employees and nine contractors. The company CEO Arthouros Zervos wants a criminal investigation to be conducted on the commission of crimes related to project implementation, supply and installation of security systems.

The complaint includes violations such as: disloyalty to the company, fraud and breach of duties. It is also against any other person whose responsibility will be proved in the investigation.
