The Greek police have circulated the photographs of the two Roma couples from Sparta who are convicted of abduction of minors aged under 14 to the degree of felony.

They are Ioannis Karagiannis and Sofia Karagouni born in 1986 and Nektarios-Konstantinos Karagounis (born in 1980) and Kaliopi Karagianni born in 1987.

Today, the four appeared before the prosecutor in Sparta who submitted the charges against them. As GRReporter announced, on Friday, following an alert, the police found two children in the families of the two couples in the Roma camps near Sparta.

The supposed parents, who are not relatives despite the same family names, initially said that the children were theirs. The DNA testing has established that they are not the biological parents of the children. In addition, no documents of legal adoption were found in the possession of the Roma.

According to sources, the children are in a safe place at present. So far the authorities have not turned to the child protection organization "The Smile of the Child" with a request to take care of them. Both children are dark, of visible age about 4 years, but their exact origin has not yet been clarified. According to some reports, one of them is from Greece and the other from Bulgaria or Romania.

The information site of Sparta notospress.gr reports that one of the children is a boy called Theophilos. The relatives of the parents argue that the child had been living in good conditions.

The same media indicates the main versions investigated by the local police. The first is that the children are the biological children of other Roma families and the two specific families have adopted them in an informal way.

The second possibility is for their "adopters" or other Roma to have kidnapped them and then brought them to the couples in question. In all cases, the two children have lived in the families since they were babies.

The third possibility is for the biological parents to have sold the children to their "adopters" or other Roma.
