Wealthy Greeks of old Athenian families headed to Gstaad, St. Moritz, Courchevel, Maldives, Paris but also to distant India. Athenian elite celebrities will celebrate the New Year in their aristocratic villas or luxury ski hotels around the world, although some of them will stay in the capital because of professional duties.

The famous Swiss resort of Gstaad is always among the top destinations of George and Lita Livanos that own 16 ships and a number of real estates worldwide and have lived in Switzerland in recent years. The shipping family Embirikos, the members of which have distinguished themselves not only in business activities but also in politics and modern poetry over the years, will spend the holidays in Gstaad too. The Embirikos started their business in the Romanian city of Braila in the early 20th century. The former King of Greece - Konstantinos and his wife Anna Maria will be again guests of Alekos and Marietta Gulandri in their villa in the Swiss resort. Mrs. Marianna Latsis that is also a ship owner will celebrate the New Year with her children Paris Kasidokostas, Erieta and Filippos Kourkoulos and their grandmother in their own estate in Gstaad near the famous Gstaad Palace Hotel.

Another ship owning lady - Fotini Livanos, will visit her sister Alexandra Pethala in St. Moritz. It is the most aristocratic ski resort in the Alps since 1864 and there are the houses of the Niarchos, Onassis, Latsis, Grimaldi of Monaco and the Sheikh of Persia as it has always been highly preferred by family members of ‘mature’ wealth worldwide. The Vardinoyanis spent Christmas there too. The family members are known from business, politics and sports and the family own not only ships but hold shares in Motor Oil Hellas and have the largest share in the football club of Panathinaikos. Eleni and Socratis Kokkalis together with Thomas and Natasha Liakounakou will have fun on a warmer place - the Maldives. Sokartis Kokkalis is the owner of the telecommunication systems company Intracom and the president of the football club of Olympiakos.

Unlike the others, Todoros and Emmanuela Vasilakis will stay in Athens and will organize the traditional New Year celebration that will host the Athenian elite that remained in the city. While rich ship owners celebrate in glamour the crisis ‘hit’ the vacation of Greek show business celebrities. Warm winter ski resorts and cottages with fireplaces throughout Greece and abroad remained a sweet memory from the past!

Sakis Rouvas and Katya Ziguli and their little daughter Anastasia will stay at home more for the joy of spending the holiday with the family not because of the economic turmoil. Sakis says that the happiest Christmas for him was not only this year but also the last year when for the first time the family celebrated with the newborn baby girl in their house in the Athens suburb of Neo Vutza. The diva of the Greek pop music Anna Vissi will stay in Ekali, while her rival Despina Vandi with her husband Demis Nikolaidis for professional duties will celebrate the New Year in their decorated house in Melissa.

The TV celebrity Grigoris Arnautoglou will spend several days in the winter resort of Metsovo, while Nadia Boule will go to her parents in Navpakt. The attractive Antonis Kanakis from the satire Radio Arvila will open for his friends the doors of his villa in Agios Athanasios.

Marietta Hrusala and Leon Patitsas have already left to an exotic place despite the crisis while the busy Antonis Remos, Zeta Makripulya, Vicky Kagia and Nikos Krithariotis will stay in Athens to have fun with viewers and fans! Morning shows queen Eleni Menegaki decided to spend a week with her children and her ex-husband - the head of ANT1TV Yiannis Latsios, while her beloved now will wait her to celebrate the coming year together.
