Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is to seek a vote of confidence from parliament immediately after the start of the regular autumn session next week. This was confirmed by a government spokesman after the meeting of Samaras with his coalition partner Evangelos Venizelos.
The leaders of the two parties in the ruling coalition - New Democracy and PASOK - also agreed on the procedure for the election of the next Greek president. The mandate of the current president, Karolos Papoulias, expires in March 2015 and according to the constitution of the country, the procedure for the election of his successor is to begin in February 2015.
"The two solutions will ensure political stability in the country, we will not allow the forces of instability, poverty and demagogy to prevail", said Evangelos Venizelos.
