A Saturday in Athens at the Omonia square and hundreds of immigrants have gathered to declare their protest against the racism and the lack of full rights statute of the immigrant in Greece. From the crowd that gathered at the square were formed separate groups who, holding up banners with slogans headed ahead in a parade of the anti racist demonstration. At the event was present a reporter of www.grreporter.info. Accompanied by percussion instruments and cheers “Solidarity for the immigrants” the colorful crowd started from the Omonia square, took the Stadiou street and headed for the building of the Parliament at Syntagma square. In the procession took part representatives of all immigrant communities. The Union of the African women in Greece was present, who is using the campaign “Say no to racism since the cradle” to fight for the protection of the rights of the children born in Greece and also for the equal rights between the different generations children of immigrants. Here were also present representatives of the Indian and Arabian community as well as the union of the Philippine workers – Kasapa. In the procession also took part Romanians, Polish, Bulgarians and Ukrainians. The participants in the demonstration instated on the positive consideration by the government of the bill for the recognition of the Greek citizenship of the children of immigrants who were born in Greece. In their slogans they insisted on immediate legalization as one of the most important conditions for the normal functioning of the immigrants in the country. The procession was going slowly towards the Parliament under a sky which symbolically was carrying send from… Africa. Besides the immigrants in the demonstration also took part Greeks who came to show their protest against racism. They insisted on solidarity with the immigrants, recognition of a shelter for political refugees, equal rights and stopping of the prosecutions of illegal immigrants: “Greeks and immigrants – all united”, “Citizenship for all children” and “Political protection, documents, rights” were cheering they, walking slowly towards the Parliament
