Loukas Yiannakoulis, son-in-law of George Bobolas, has been in critical condition since early morning. He participated in the Palladio rally – part of the Greek championship. The experienced racer (motor vehicles and motorcycles) participated with a Porsche 911 RSR car and, together with George Petropoulos, aspired to one of the first places in the category of historic cars. Unfortunately, with the start of the first special stage of the race, Agios Ioannis 1, there was a terrifying crash – at 6.5 km from the start of the stage, the car lost control, spun and hit a tree on the driver's side.

Despite the security measures taken by all racing teams participating in the race, the collision with the tree was severe. As a result, driver Loukas Yiannakoulis hit his head and chest, and navigator George Petropoulos suffered injuries to an arm. The crash was so severe that the driver was taken to Thriasio hospital. Doctors considered his health condition to be extremely serious, and therefore decided to transfer him to Attikon hospital. According to information on the site zougla.gr, the driver suffered severe head injuries, and one of his lungs was seriously damaged. A competition participant, who asked to remain anonymous, told zougla.gr, that things were very serious and everybody was praying for the best for their teammate.
In turn, drivers of historical cars, in an expression of empathy, ended the race; the rest are continuing normally. In turn, the host club wrote about the incident on its Facebook page: "Loukas Yiannakoulis, driving Porsche 911, during the stage of Agios Ioannis, was injured and is out of danger. Navigator George Petropoulos is also in hospital as a precaution." It should be noted that the special stage was stopped and the evacuation was carried out very quickly by the fire service.
Loukas Yiannakoulis, husband of Maria Bobola, has raced for many years in motor sports car and motorcycle competitions and he took part in the Dakar Rally on a motorcycle in the past.
