A fire broke out this morning on the Kokkalis family’s luxury yacht in the Agios Kosmas boat complex.

Fifteen fire fighters with five fire engines immediately arrived on the scene and tried to extinguish the flames that were emanating from the engine compartment of the 40-metre long yacht.

According to sources, the fire broke out in the engine compartment of the luxury yacht BUX at 6:50 am and thick black clouds of smoke began to come out from inside the vessel within minutes.

A coast guard patrol arrived on site to ensure that the boats nearby would not be damaged. A special screen was simultaneously stretched around the yacht in the event of fuel leakage into the sea.

The fire fighters eventually managed to extinguish the fire. The causes of the fire are currently under investigation and then a list of damage will be made to allow the subsequent repair of the destroyed parts of the luxury yacht.

BUX: the floating palace with 8 cabins

When billionaire Sokratis Kokkalis bought the luxury yacht BUX, Ciao magazine wrote that the famous Greek businessman could boast of having a real palace.

The floating palace of the former owner of Olympiakos sports club is the work of the Italian company Cantieri Di Pisa and one of its most expensive models. The yacht is 40 metres long in total, has cutting-edge engines that can speed up to 25 knots per hour. The luxury yacht has 8 cabins, it is lined with very expensive wood inside and equally expensive fabrics and upholstery are used for its interior.
