Students want to become teachers

GRReporterThousands of candidates for pedagogic, medical and polytechnic universities were tested and admission is available only with excellent grades. There is a small drop in students wanting to go to law universities and the candidates for army and police schools are just few.

The candidates for pedagogic universities, which offer an immediate realization, need to have an extra 274 points. In order for a student to become a kindergarten teacher, he/she needs even more knowledge than the previous years. The ones, who would like to become doctors need to earn a total of 19 000 points and the Medical University in Athens requires even more points - 19 476.

Maybe the December riots and the murder of the 15 year old boy Alexis Grigoropoulos are the reason why students are hostile against police schools around the country and not many want to be admitted in such institutions. But despite this the drop is unexplainable because after graduating from the Officer School in the Greek Police, all youngsters will have an ensured professional career.

It seems that the students are more interested in the so-called "teacher" universities. A proof of that is the increase in the average grades for admission in Physics-Math, Math and Chemic universities. Student sign-ups start from September 16 and end on September 30. This year, the names of all foreigners and the ones who have graduated in another EU country will be placed in a separate category.
